My mom worked as an infant nutritionist for Health and Human Services in Idaho my entire childhood, which is a part of the welfare system. I grew up in a logging community of 1,000 people in the mountains, where more than 50% of the population (including ourselves) earned below the poverty line. I'm not really sure why you're making broad assumptions about my background. But, to your point, that's exactly the sort of thing that I think is on its last leg. Someone born today will probably not be calling customer service for at least a few years - I think that by 10 or 15 years out, hold times for first level support will essentially stop existing.

I don't think the tech industry is by any means a shining example, but I do believe that there are a lot of really good, capable people working to try to help solve that exact problem. For what it's worth, I think there are more people listening than you may realize.
